Blues Echoes
schools touring
We are delighted to announce that Blues Echoes has a special schools package including:
1 - A double session workshop where we will create a new blues song with the pupils that looks at what the "blues" concept means to them today. This will be performed and recorded at the end of the session.
In the session the pupils will learn about:
-
The history of the blues tradition
-
Look at the history of the enslaved African population
-
The migration of the African American population
2 - A special 60 minute version of the Blues Echoes show - suitable for High School age pupils. This can be performed to an invited audience or entire year groups or combined years and parents - dependant on school venue size.
We would like to work with schools on making this a real community event that can reach out to parents and locals as well.
Please get in touch for more information.

School's feedback from recent High School performance and workshop session.....
Teaching Staff:
"The pupils were highly engaged throughout the Blues workshop. They collaboratively created a song inspired by their school and hometown, beautifully reflecting the ethos of cynefin. All pupils left the session smiling and enthusiastically shared how much they had enjoyed the experience."

"Personally I found the workshop incredibly beneficial, both as an interested party and as a teacher.
Once pupils had opened up to joining in they really gained a lot from the first session- a more historical background into the blues, the culture, where words and attitudes came from. Music students were buzzing when they came down at break time, they gained an awful lot from the session."
Pupils: Aged 11-16
