CJ Wagstaff is a poet, nonfiction writer and editor from South Wales interested in the themes of place, identity and environmental justice. He is currently completing a PhD in creative nonfiction at Swansea University, with a focus on linking change in Welsh landscapes with change in the transgender body. He is also a member of the 2024 cohort of the 'Speak Back' project from Literature Wales, and a trustee for the Cheval Trust which aims to support young, Welsh writers through the Terry Hetherington Award.


In 2024, CJ completed an MA in Creative Writing in Swansea University, for which he received the Nigel Jenkins Literary Award for highest overall grade. In 2019 he completed a BA in English and Creative Writing at the University of Nottingham, where for his dissertation he produced a pamphlet of imagistic poetry on the transgender experience.


CJ's poetry is published or forthcoming in Poetry Wales, Propel Magazine, These Pages Sing, Swim Press and Stone of Madness. He has reviews, features and nonfiction published in Poetry Wales, Buzz Magazine, Nation Cymru and God is in the TV Zine. He is a regular arts writer for Buzz Magazine, a poetry editor for Nation Cymru.
